COMETS & STARS
J A -J K Words, bicycles, popsicles, and calamine - past for the son in a uniform His heart still beating but not beside mine No peace - voices condemned to conform Orders, doctrines, commands, and time clocks have run out for any reform Proud with an anchor - remembering to remind The purpose, the freedoms, silent storms we're waiting for you......... Circles of Words Centuries of poets have written sonnets, haiku and ballads in the hope of making our world a more beautiful place to be in. Their words have expressed the human emotions of suffering, loving, leaving and grieving. We learn and live through their Circle of Words. 100 Poets Against the War 3.0 is available for free download, Adobe Acrobat, by clicking on http://www.nthposition.com/ 100 Poets have donated their anti war poetry for this free ezine edition. Their message is important and is in need to be heard. You may not agree with their sentiments but their freedom to say it is what America's foundation is built on. Peace, geese, fleece, lease, grease, obese, niece, release, cease, Denise, apiece, crease.... RhymeZone - Great site to find words that rhyme!
"I may not like what you have to say, but I'll defend your right to say it."
Rhythm and Rhyme Read your poetry out loud into a tape recorder or to a mirror. If it sounds jagged, it probably is. Use a rhyming dictionary or thesaurus to balance they syllables. Step Outside Your Comfort Zone. Emotion is warranted when writing poetry. Readers look for works they can associate with. If ALL of your poetry has the same subject matter, such as lost love, true love, or yearning for love, it may be time to broaden your horizons. Expand your repertoire and pick up on another emotional fire within your soul. The personal growth and gain can be rewarding. Sonnet to Song Paul Simon, Barry Manilow (don't be making cracks about Barry M!), Don McLean, and Lennon/McCartney are world renown poets who happened to create music too. What is hanging in your archives that can be lyrically transferred to a song? Coordinate a jam session with a musician if you don't have a musical background. Call a conservatory, slap a note up on the apartment complex bulletin board, post a note in a college newspaper if you don't happen to know a guitar picker, pianist or vocalist. This may be a calling! The words that darkened my hallway became the noise that made me hide. Conscientious creation unable to sigh messages that fear revered -even cursed My heart, my stamina, my wishes The words that hung in my hallway no windows to shadow or light.
