There is a story in each of us No life is insignificant. Every person is an Oprah Winfrey episode. Our families touch our lives with snapshots of historical significance. Write it down - today. The Manuscriptors Guild of Houston, Texas took on a community project, A Lifetime of Memories. Volunteer writers were introduced to an individual in a nursing home environment. We interviewed the participants and wrote their stories. Each memoir was poignant, inspiring and full of insight. Not only did we learn something about the subjects were were writing about - we learned a lot about ourselves. Write your story or the story of a family member. It is a great writing exercise that can change your life. Packaging the Goods The book is written, double spaced and words counted. You have an eager agent and a publisher who is in a hurry. The time to decide on the cover is now. The photo, font and number of colors used on the front of your book can make or break a sale. If it is a "cheap" print - you get what you pay for. The results will not be to your liking. This may be the time to pay for professional assistance or if you are fortunate enough to rub elbows with a successful writer - request a few mentoring sessions. You may have a top seller but the patron may never look twice if the jacket is dime store material.
